Last month, we told you August was the biggest month in GutterGate history. That was true for exactly thirty days. September came in and beat it by a wide margin. And it wasn't just a new all-time record: September was our best September ever by an even wider one. Two record months, back to back. We don't publish exact sales figures, so you'll have to trust us when we say the word "wide" is doing a lot of work in those sentences.
What GutterGate Is, In Case You Just Got Here
GutterGate is a cap that mounts on the end of your downspout, at ground level. The install takes the GutterGate cap, the two provided screws, and a drill or screwdriver — no ladder, no sealant, no special tools. It fits standard 2"x3" and 3"x4" downspouts. It deters pests from entering through the downspout opening, protects the downspout end from lawn mower and trimmer damage, and covers the sharp edges most people never think about at foot and ankle height. Simple, professional-grade downspout protection. And no, it's not a gutter guard — its hinged door is designed to let debris flow right through.
Why September Broke the Record
Record months don't happen by accident, and this one had a lot going for it. September is when fall pest season starts in earnest: nights cool down, and rodents stop wandering and start scouting for winter quarters. An open downspout end is exactly the kind of entrance they're looking for — dark, protected, and connected to your home's exterior wall. Every year, more homeowners figure that out before the first hard frost. This year, more of them did something about it than ever before.
The other thing driving the numbers is the thing we're proudest of: word of mouth. A homeowner caps a downspout in five minutes, notices the pest traffic stop, and tells a neighbor. The neighbor orders two. That quiet street-by-street spread is how a product goes from "never heard of it" to "oh, the downspout caps — yeah, I know those" — and it compounds. Two record months in a row is what compounding looks like on a spreadsheet.
The Pros Kept Coming
Pest control companies, gutter companies, landscaping companies, and French drain companies kept installing GutterGate on their customers' homes all month long — the pros who see what actually happens at the end of a downspout, and who choose to cap it. And at the very end of the month, we spent three days at the 2026 Gutter Summit meeting the top gutter and gutter guard companies in the nation face to face, handing out 72 sample kits and coming home with more momentum than we left with. If the tradeshow floor was any indication, the record book isn't closed yet.
Who Gets the Credit
We'll be honest: two record months in a row is not a thing we're comfortable taking credit for. GutterGate is a family-owned, Christian company. We work hard, we sweat the details, and we build a product we're proud of — but we believe this growth is a blessing from God, and the glory belongs to Him. We're grateful for every customer, every dealer, and every pro who trusts this product. We just get to watch it happen.
What's Next
Fall is officially here, and rodents are already looking for a way in. If the end of your downspout is still open, now is the moment — a downspout pest deterrent takes five minutes and two screws to install, and it's the kind of upgrade you stop thinking about the second it's on. Shop GutterGate, or find an installer near you. Your downspouts will thank you. Probably.
