Question 1

How do I know which size to order?

Accepted Answer

Use a standard credit card as a measuring tool. If your downspout opening is larger than a credit card, order 3x4. If the credit card is larger than the opening, order 2x3.

Question 2

What's the difference between Type A and Type B?

Accepted Answer

Type A is designed for square downspouts, while Type B is designed for rectangular or elongated downspouts. The 4" Round is specifically for round downspouts with a 4" diameter.

Question 3

How difficult is it to install GutterGate?

Accepted Answer

Installation is simple and straightforward. You'll need a screwdriver or drill to secure the screws through the downspout. Most installations take just a few minutes.

Question 4

Will GutterGate damage my downspout?

Accepted Answer

No. GutterGate does not cause damage to your downspout. Installation requires 2 screws, which create 2 small holes in the side of the downspout—these holes won't affect its function. We recommend using the screws for a snug fit, but they are optional.

Question 5

Why do you offer White, Brown, and Black options?

Accepted Answer

Different homes have different gutter colors. We offer White, Brown, and Black to match the most common gutter colors. Type B is available in White only.

Accepted Answer

Yes. GutterGate allows water to flow freely while preventing leaves and debris from clogging your downspout. It's designed to work in all weather conditions.

Question 14

How does GutterGate perform in ice and snow?

Accepted Answer

GutterGate is designed to be used year-round and is weather resistant. We have many customers in colder climates who use it without issue. That said, in extreme weather conditions (heavy snow + prolonged freezing temps), it's possible for any downspout system to experience ice buildup depending on the home's drainage setup and freeze/thaw cycles.
